NOV-DEC 11th & 12th Months 1916

30 Th-NOV to 2 Sat-DEC

In the same sector. Things getting rather warm. Beginning to think there is a war on again. Last month of the year and still as far off Peace as Ever.

3 Sun to 6 Wed

Same monotonous routine between trenches and Winnipeg when in camp. Regular attendance at cinema.

7 Th to 9 Sat

Trenches again. The Bund. Trenches //////// Larry House. Fritzy is getting warm. Even made a raid. Got some stick though.

10 Sun to 13 Wed

On the same game. Thinking of Christmas and wondering when I shall get a leave. Out of fettle and felt physically ill.

14 Th to 16 Sat

Much the same as before. Not much better in myself. Fritzy is getting warmer if anything. Tommy is giving him as good as as he sends.

17 Sun to 20 Wed

In the ///// and still unwell but improving. Parcels start coming, takes me all my time to answer them.

21 Th to 23 Sat

Thinking of relief and Xmas out of the trenches, Came out on the 23rd and went to Winnipeg. two parcels waiting for me. prepared for a good time.

24 Sun-4th in Advent. New Moon, 8.31 p.m.

Got paid and had a walk down Underdon. Enjoyed ////// with Belgian soldiers.

25 Mon-Christmas Day

Merry Xmas. Had a real good time plenty of good stuff and a decent Concert and cinema show.

26 Tues-S. Stephen. Bank Holiday

Still enjoying ourselves, plenty Christmas fruits and parcels, the boys are doing well.

27 Wed-s. John

Still on with Christmas making the best of every spell out. Am now answering parcels

28 Th to 30 Sat

Much the same as previous days. Had 1 day in Poperinge and met a lad. Joe Ainsly a friend of Aunt Alice. Had a very good week.

31 Sun-1st after Christmas First Quarter, 0.7 p.m.

Last day of the year and moved up to Ypres, not much to comment on.

1 JAN Mon-Circumcision

HAPPY NEW YEAR. New year let in by a salvo of gun fire which stopped me getting to sleep.
